The Chalk Hill AVA, established in 1983, covers 33,600 acres, with 1,300 acres of vineyards benefiting from cooling influences from the Pacific Ocean. Chardonnay is the dominant grape variety, known for its elegance, balance, and vibrant acidity. The region also cultivates Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec.
